Like most of you, we started into the saltwater hobby years ago with the vision of creating a colorful and thriving underwater world to get lost in.

Unfortunately, reality caught up with us in its very brown and ugly sort of way. Local fish stores have very limited selections, sometimes bad quality, and color is nowhere to be seen. It got worse when we got hit by the zoanthid bug—Collecting new color morphs was harder than finding a needle in a hay stack.

At that point we decided to alleviate this problem for ourselves and fellow reefers: ZoMania will offer only the most colorful and hardy specimen to be found, with an emphasis on zoanthids. After a few trips to Belize, we decided to take our commitment a step further. The Belizean economy relies heavily on tourism, most of which revolves around the ocean: Belize has the world’s second largest barrier reef. Natives are very careful to preserve their underwater world for future generations and disallows harvesting and destruction of its reef.

Enamored by this underwater beauty, we decided to sell aquacultured corals only. We do not buy from large wholesalers, minimizing stress on corals and the environment as a whole. At this point, our tanks hold over 2,000 zoanthid frags, growing happily under Metal Halides and T5 Fluorescent light. By the end of this year we are planning to extend capacity to hold over 5,000 zoanthids at one time.

Currently, we offer only a limited amount of new frags every month, but we hope to eventually be able to offer zoanthids in sufficient quantities and varieties to make your life as a buyer easier: no more frantic searches of dozens of web pages for a few new colorful zoanthids.
