JoesJuice.Com
It took us 14 months to develop JoesJuice. After this development period, we enlisted a local aquarium retailer to become a beta test site. Our first in-store test involved the feeding of 1 Aiptasia and 1 Majano in a 250 gallon acropora tank which also contained fish, clams and other invertebrates. Before feeding pest anemones, their locations were carefully marked. It took 20 minutes for the Aiptasia and Majano to disappear. Though these test subjects never re-appeared, daily water quality checks were made over a two week period to ensure that all was well.
Phase two of the beta test, involved feeding all Aiptasia and Majano anemones found in the stores' 4,000 gallons of retail reef tanks. We fed Aiptasia and Majano located on live rock pieces where corals were attached. Aiptasia attached to clams as well as those near good anemones were also fed. Water quality was tested twice a week and remained stable. Phase II of testing lasted two months. Near the end of the second phase of testing, we applied for our patent. The final phase of testing entailed taking the product out into the market place.
As part of this final phase, JoesJuice was given to the beta retailers' tank maintenance team. Each member of the team applied JoesJuice as required in their clients' tanks. Over 100 tanks were involved in another two month test phase.
The maintenance staff reported fantastic results while their customers called to thank the retailer. At the end of Phase III testing, our local retailer began to sell the product in his store. His maintenance customers were now seeing charges for JoesJuice on their monthly statements.
JoesJuice.Com, LLC was born 20 months after conception in July of 2003. Our first bottles were marketed with crude labels and no applicators. We received permanent shelf space in September of 2003 as hundreds of bottles were being sold. Once our graphic designers completed their tasks, our newly labeled bottles appeared on the beta retailers' shelf in October.
Each new batch of JoesJuice is tested in our original development tank to assure the utmost effectiveness of our product. The corals, fish and invertebrate populations in this development tank have remained stable. Our Hippo Tang has been in this development tank for 8 years as well as a Yellow Belly Damsel 7 years, Cross Eyed Squirrel 6 years, Niger Trigger 5 years, Tomato Clown 5 years, Dwarf Lion Fish 3 years plus a host of others new and old. With no need for peppermint shrimp, we've been able to house fish in our reefs that might not otherwise be recommended!
